Spring Morning, Tom's Wood.

'Spring Morning, Tom's Wood' ~ Mixed Media

Due to the horrible snowy weather we suffered in early spring this year, the bluebells arrived late and have only recently gone from the landscape. There's a lovely walk through Tom's Wood near to us where wonderful blue carpets are interspersed with dappled sunlight. This is painted from my memory of our walk and a little imagination, something I'm trying to do much more in my work ... but it ain't easy!

Hi Theresa! I know how hard it is to paint from memory and imagination, but you are going in the right way. This is a very beautiful painting and you wont see another one like this, it's unique. Congrats!

Wonderful light and shade in this painting, Theresa. Stunning. You always manage to capture a sense of being right in the place.

Thanks Deb .. that's great that you say that as my memory was of coolness in the woodland :)

Anamaria, thanks for the encouragement!

I have always taken photos on my walks and used them as starting points for my work. I've got bored with that approach lately and want to try and invent what I remember (if that makes any sense!)

Judy, thanks ... random trees and grasses are not so difficult. It's the light that I found I needed to establish first or the painting didn't come together at all. Believe me .. my paper bin is well used!

Vandy, I really appreciate that. I only like to paint places I've been to or 'know' and hope to share being there.
