Summer Pasture ~ Peak District Landscape Painting

Peak District landscape painting, shady pasture
Summer Pasture (Mixed Media) 12" x 14"

Nearby in the Peak District, there's a beautiful path where we walk. Like much open landscape, its character changes dramatically with the seasons, weather and light. In summer the sheep graze in lush pastures alongside the path which is edged with leafy trees and hawthorn hedgerows. Against the light, the black sheep blend effortlessly into the almost abstract silhouettes.

I painted this in oil pastel over a very loose, watercolour underpainting.
