"Hedgerow", Spring Landscape Painting

Hedgerow.

Small watercolour sketch on hot pressed paper. Couldn't resist placing a blackbird in the foliage ;)

Have a good weekend everyone .... hopefully we'll all see a little sunshine between the downpours!

A lovely fresh and typical spring landscape from our part of the world. There are so many blackbirds this year! I have even had a couple nesting in my small back yard.

I know .. they seem to be everywhere. Not that I'm complaining; they're such a pretty bird and their song is lovely.

I use hot pressed paper more than cold pressed. I love the way the colors stay vibrant and it helps me stay loose also. Do you use it often. Nice spring feeling to your watercolor.

Hi Jean. Yes I use it much more than cold pressed nowadays. I think that once you get used to the different way it handles, it's much nicer. Like you say, the colours do definitely stay much more vibrant. I like the way the paint doesn't seep into the paper so much but dries in colourful puddles instead!

Thanks for your comment and popping by :)

Hi Azra. Thanks for popping by and for your comment :) Well, I suppose we wouldn't have the lush greens in the landscape without the rains but some warm summer sunshine would be nice!
